Do something

Québec Tobacco-Free Week is a great opportunity for you to become involved in the fight to reduce tobacco use in Quebec. Whether you’re a non-smoker, a former smoker or a smoker, you can do something that will make a difference. For example:

  • Find information on effective ways to quit smoking or offer support to help someone else who wants to quit.
  • Organize a quit-smoking support group at work or in the local community.
  • Just say no when kids ask me to buy tobacco products for them.
  • Set clear rules to ban smoking at home, in the car and around young children.
  • Make my kids (or kids I know) aware of the disadvantages of smoking.
  • Encourage my kids to take part in anti-smoking awareness and prevention activities at their school or youth centre. (For further information, see www.lagangallumee.com)
  • Take part in a sport with my kids and talk to them about the benefits of not smoking – for example, the fact that they won’t be out of breath after a sustained effort.
  • Order and distribute Québec Tobacco-Free Week promotional material to make sure people around me are aware of the problem.
  • Starting on January 12, 2012, send a virtual movie ticket inviting my friends and family to watch the campaign advertising. You can write some personal words of encouragement or congratulations on the ticket.
  • Talk about my personal experience in connection with smoking, by joining the Forum section of this website.
  • Add my name to the online list of people who want to work towards achieving a smoke-free world.
  • Share information from this website on my Facebook page or on Twitter.

Thank you for helping to make your environment smoke-free!
